“Binhai City” sets a “new benchmark” for smart low-carbon life

The reporter recently learned from the Bureau of Ecological Environment of Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA for short) that during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period (2021-2025), TBNA will focus on development of green and low-carbon cycles, deeply promote technological innovation, model innovation, management innovation, expand green consumption, extensively carry out green life actions, and establish “new benchmark” for smart low-carbon life.

Green lifestyle is becoming fashionable.

During the “13th Five-Year Plan” period (2016-2020), TBNA focused on promoting green and low-carbon consumption, and actively promoted green transportation and low-carbon travel. Green lifestyles had gradually become fashionable. It vigorously promoted the sea-rail combined transport and the “rail-to-rail” mode. The 30 specialized berths of Tianjin Port had completed the construction of shore power, and 100% of the port operation ships used shore power. It increased promotion and application of new energy vehicles, put 862 new energy buses into operation, and speeded up construction of rail transit lines B1, Z2, and Z4. It completed the treatment of 55,000 households with clean heating and scattered coal in winter, promoted the green and low-carbon development of buildings, and achieved a 100% harmless treatment rate of domestic waste.

Multiple measures are adopted to improve green and low-carbon levels.

During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period (2021-2025), TBNA will comprehensively improve the green and low-carbon level of buildings, accelerate construction of Eco-city smart energy towns, promote innovative models such as zero-energy buildings, active power distribution networks, virtual power plants and new smart meters, and establish “new benchmark” for smart low-carbon life. It will optimize and adjust transportation structure and accelerate construction of railway collection and distribution channels in Tianjin Port. By 2025, the proportion of clean transportation in Tianjin Port will reach 55%, and the volume of container sea-rail combined transportation will increase by more than 12% annually. It will promote green transportation, strengthen construction of public transportation infrastructure, and improve the public transportation network that seamlessly connects multiple transportation modes. During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, rail transit lines B1, Z2, and Z4 will be opened and operated, and the green transportation share rate will reach 80% above. It will encourage application of new formats and technologies such as the Internet and big data in the transportation field, and promote construction of an intelligent transportation system.
