China-ASEAN Digital Economy Development and Cooperation Forum to be held in Wuhan

The China-ASEAN Digital Economy Development and Cooperation Forum is slated for July 15-16, in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province.

The event will focus on deepening cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in digital economy, regarding areas such as infrastructure, intelligence artificial, cross-border e-commerce and industrial cooperation.

The forum, to be held both online and offline, will consist of a main session and four parallel sessions. A project signing ceremony and four forums will take place during the event.

Until the end of 2020, Wuhan companies have set up 74 projects in ASEAN member countries, amounting to 5.293 billion yuan. And in turn, the ASEAN member countries has established 393 investment firms in Wuhan, with an investment of 4.4 billion U.S. dollars.

ASEAN has risen to Wuhan’s second largest trading partner. From January to May, the overall import-export volume between Wuhan and ASEAN grew by 83.1 percent, reaching 17.23 billion yuan.

As introduced, Wuhan is intended to speed up cooperation and exchanges with ASEAN member countries in areas of establishing a digital economy exchange platform, promoting cooperation in infrastructure construction, broadening digital economic cooperation, and strengthening digital medical cooperation and exchanges.
