Alibaba’s cloud computing data center was put into use in the National Economic and Technological Development Zone of Linping district, Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on June 30, local media reported.
It is the first data center in Linping and the new facility will further complete Alibaba’s self-built data center cluster in Hangzhou.
The Linping data center has employed many self-developed technologies, according to Gao Shanyuan who is in charge of research and development at Aliyun data center.
Shi Huamiao, deputy Party secretary of Linping district, noted that the data center signifies another landmark for the deep strategic cooperation between Linping and Alibaba. Shi added that it will also bolster the district’s high-quality development.
Linping will accelerate the development of strategic emerging industries and future industries, including third-generation semiconductors and new-generation artificial intelligence, as well as form a modern industrial system centering around the digital economy.
