Bronzes featuring Yangtze River civilization on display at Panlongcheng Site Museum

On June 11, the exhibition, “Verdigris of Green Shines of the Yangtze River – Bronze from the Yangtze River Basin”, was opened at the Panlongcheng Site Museum, in Wuhan, capital city of central China’s Hubei Province.

The exhibited 118 pieces (sets) of bronzes - collected from the Panlongcheng Site Museum, Sanxingdui Museum, Jinsha Site Museum, Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, Hubei Provincial Museum, Suizhou Museum, Jingzhou Museum, Hunan Provincial Museum, Hunan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, Changsha Museum, Jiangxi Provincial Museum, and Anhui Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology – are representatives of bronze wares in the Shang and Zhou dynasties that were unearthed from the important relic sites in the Yangtze River Basin.

The collection includes weapons, farm tools, cooking utensils, banquet utensils,ritual objects and musical instruments, highlighting exquisite bronzes like the head portraits from the Sanxingdui Site, Sichuan Province, a diamond-patterned bronze sword from Jingzhou City, a bronze ding from Shang tomb of Dayangzhou, Jiangxi Province, etc.

Adopting new media and other forms to fully present the charm of cultural relics, the exhibition will last until November 12.
